What this policy covers

This policy explains what OsceMedics collects through this website, why it is collected, how long it is kept and what choices a person has about it. It applies to the pages of this website and to any account created on them.

It does not apply to an insurer, a pharmacy, a government agency or any other website reached through a link here. Those places run under their own policies and should be read separately.

What gets collected

Information arrives in two ways. Some is typed in deliberately, and some is recorded automatically by the technology that serves the pages.

• Details entered on a form, such as a name, an email address, a phone number and the message itself.
• Details saved to an account, such as the prescriptions, providers and coverage dates a person chooses to record.
• The content of messages exchanged about a coverage question.
• Technical information such as browser type, device type, approximate location derived from an address on the network, and the pages visited during a session.

There is no requirement to save anything to an account beyond what makes an answer useful. Everything recorded there is put in by choice.

Why it is collected

Information is used to answer the question that was asked, to keep an account working, to keep the website secure and to improve how the pages are organized.

• Writing a reply that fits the situation described rather than a general one.
• Keeping saved notes available on the next visit.
• Sending the service messages a person has agreed to receive.
• Detecting misuse of the forms and protecting the website against it.
• Understanding which explanations people struggle with, so they can be rewritten more clearly.

Information is never used to make a decision about someone's coverage on their behalf, because that decision is theirs to make.

Text messages and phone contact

Text messages are only sent where the matching consent box has been selected on the signup form. Service messages relate to a request that was submitted, and marketing messages describe coverage options and offers.

Consent is not a condition of anything on this website. Replying STOP ends messages of that type and replying HELP returns support information. Carrier message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies.

When information is shared

Information is shared only where it is needed to run this website or where the law requires it. The categories are limited and are listed here in full:

• Service providers that host the website, deliver email or deliver text messages, acting only on instructions.
• An insurer or licensed agent, and then only where a person has asked for that introduction to be made.
• Legal and professional advisers where advice is needed on a specific matter.
• A public authority where disclosure is required by law or by a valid legal process.
• A successor entity if this website is ever transferred, subject to this policy continuing to apply.

Cookies and measurement

This website uses a small number of cookies and similar storage to keep a session working and to understand in aggregate how the pages are used. None of it is used to build an advertising profile.

Browsers can block or delete cookies at any time. Some parts of an account may stop behaving normally if session storage is refused, but the reading pages will still work.

How long things are kept

Account information is kept while the account exists and for a reasonable period afterwards, so that a question asked later can still be answered in context. Message records are kept for as long as they are useful for that purpose or for as long as a legal obligation requires.

Once neither reason applies, information is deleted or reduced to a form that cannot identify anybody.

Keeping information safe

Reasonable technical and organizational measures protect the information held here, including encrypted connections, restricted access and stored passwords that are not readable.

No website can promise perfect security, and information sent across the internet always carries some risk. Choosing a strong password and keeping it private is the single most effective protection an account holder controls.

Choices available to you

Several things can be changed at any time without giving a reason:

• Correcting or updating the details saved to an account.
• Asking for an account and the information in it to be deleted.
• Withdrawing consent to marketing messages by replying STOP.
• Asking what information is held and receiving a copy of it.
• Objecting to a particular use of the information held.

Requests are handled through the contact details at the end of this policy, and confirmation of identity may be needed before a request is acted on.

Children

This website is meant for adults making decisions about their own coverage or helping somebody close to them. It is not directed at children and information is not knowingly collected from them.

If information about a child is found to have been submitted, it is deleted once that comes to light.

Outside websites

Links to insurers, government pages and reference material are offered because they are useful. Following one leaves this website and enters somewhere with its own privacy practices.

Reading the policy on the destination is worthwhile, particularly before entering personal details there.

Changes to this policy

This policy is updated when the practices behind it change or when the rules that apply to it change. The current version always sits on this page with its date at the top.

Where a change materially affects how information already collected is handled, notice is given through the website before the change takes effect.
